Thanksgiving is right around the corner - and for some, family events usually include a festive drink. This is just one way to use a bit of Louisburg Cider Mill Old Fashioned Apple Cider in with your celebrations.

Ingredients

1/2 Gallon Apple Juice

1 C. Brown Sugar

1 C. Granulated Sugar

A few dashes of Nutmeg

A few dashes of Cinnamon

6 Cinnamon Sticks, snapped in half

2 Honeycrisp Apples, cut into 2 inch chunks

1 750 ml bottle Everclear 80 to 151 Proof

Instructions

  1. Combine the cider, juice, sugars and apple chunks, bring to a vigorous boil, sprinkle in the spices and continue to boil for 10 more minutes, reducing it a bit.

  2. Remove the mixture from the heat and cool completely.

  3. Once the mixture is at room temperature, mash up the apples with a potato masher (if you put them in) and then strain the moonshine.

  4. Add in the Everclear, stir.

  5. Place a fresh cinnamon stick in each container. This will yield 4-5 quart sized mason jars full

  6. Store the moonshine in a cold garage or refrigerator.

  7. Give it a quick shake before pouring.

Informative and enjoyable explanation of apple cider moonshine and its background. The way you shared the process and history makes it feel approachable rather than overwhelming. It reminded me of a seasonal food discussion I came across on https://www.naturalcleansedetox.com/ that focused on traditional ingredients. Very well written.
